We’re currently seeking an experienced Switching Operator to be part of a dynamic workforce delivering essential services across WA. As a Switching Operator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of planned outages across Western Power’s network. This position requires a strong focus on safety, planning, and stakeholder communication, working closely with internal teams and external customers to minimise disruptions and maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, scope, and execute Switching Programs to enable safe access to the Western Power network
- Prepare and submit eNARs for planned outages, identifying isolation points to reduce customer impact
- Collaborate with the planning team to optimise scheduling and minimise project delays
- Communicate effectively with customers and businesses regarding upcoming planned outages
- Uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards across all field operations

What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a skilled and safety-focused Switching Operator who will bring experience, qualifications, and a great attitude to the team, as well as:
- Cert III in Distribution Overhead, Cable Jointing, or a WA Electrical Licence
- Current Western Power Switching Authorisation
- HV & LV Switching qualifications on Western Power’s Network
- Trained and experienced with substation switching on Western Power’s Network – desirable
- Valid driver’s licence (HR preferred)
- EWP and High-Risk Work Licences (DG, LF, CV or higher)

The scope of work will include the delivery of maintenance services across Western Power's transmission, distribution network and the maintenance of large complex assets, whilst servicing customers in city centres, regional and remote communities.
