The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Tax Advisor to join our Group Finance team based in North Sydney on a 13-month fixed term contract. Reporting within the Tax function, you will play a critical role in managing Ventia’s taxation compliance obligations and supporting the organisation’s tax governance and risk management framework. The role also provides strategic taxation support and advice to the wider Finance function and business stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance obligations across Australia and New Zealand, including GST, FBT, withholding tax, and fuel tax credits.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, lodgement, and payment of all GST and FBT returns across the Group.
- Provide practical tax advice to the business on GST, FBT, and related matters.
- Perform tax account reconciliations, prepare month-end journals, and support statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of tax technical papers and the ongoing enhancement of Ventia’s Tax Corporate Governance Framework.
- Monitor legislative tax changes and assess business impacts.
- Build strong relationships across the business and support stakeholders on tax matters and queries.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation, and innovative technology solutions, including AI.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field; CA or CPA preferred.
- Solid experience in tax (Big 4 preferred) or financial accounting roles.
- Strong experience across financial accounting operations, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and Australian tax compliance within complex corporate environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), SAP, and tax/accounting systems including OneSource and CCH Tax Integrator, or the ability to quickly learn new platforms.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Solutions-focused, proactive, and accountable, with a collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.
