The Victorian Intelligent Transport Systems Contracts (VIMC) require the delivery of 24/7 monitoring, incident management, fault coordination, dispatch and operational reporting services to support contractual performance obligations and network availability.
The Ventia Operations Centre plays a critical role in monitoring asset performance, coordinating fault response activities, managing incidents and ensuring compliance with contractual response and restoration timeframes.
About the role
The Network Operations Officer is responsible for the real-time monitoring, logging, triage and coordination of alarms, faults and incidents across the Victorian Intelligent Transport Systems (VIMC) network. Working within a 24/7 Operations Centre environment, you will monitor SCATS, STREAMS, NMS and associated systems, create and manage fault records, conduct initial diagnostics, coordinate dispatch activities and provide stakeholder updates.
This role is critical to ensuring incidents are accurately classified, recorded and escalated within contractual response timeframes while supporting the safe and efficient operation of Victoria's transport infrastructure network.
Role responsibilities
- Monitor SCATS, STREAMS, NMS and other operational alarm platforms to identify faults, incidents and service disruptions.
- Receive alarms, alerts, incidents and service requests and coordinate the appropriate response.
- Create and manage fault tickets within Maximo, MMIS and other approved systems.
- Conduct initial diagnostics, fault triage and escalation activities to ensure timely response and restoration.
- Dispatch field technicians and subcontractors while monitoring attendance and restoration progress.
- Maintain accurate operational records, incident logs and documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Provide timely updates to stakeholders including DTP, TOC, Emergency Services, contractors and internal operational teams.
About you
- Experience working within a control room, network operations centre, alarm monitoring or incident management environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage alarms, faults and incidents in real time within a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong administration, record management and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within KPI and SLA-driven environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience using Maximo, MMIS or similar asset management systems is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of SCATS, STREAMS, Network Management Systems, ITS, telecommunications, utilities or emergency services environments is desirable.
- Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including days, afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays.
