About the role
This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring Water Corporation is effectively prepared for, responds to, and recovers from corporate incidents and state emergencies. The Manager – Operational Security and Incident Management leads the organisation’s operational security and incident management capability, providing clear direction, guidance and coordination across the business during both business‑as‑usual operations and high‑impact incidents.
The role leads the security and incident management function within the Integrated Operations Business Unit and acts as a key point of coordination during major corporate incidents and emergencies. While enterprise risk and insurance functions sit elsewhere, this role plays a critical operational role by informing security and incident risk treatments through operational data, incident insights and security assessments, ensuring incident management processes, guidelines and procedures are current, effective and consistently applied across the organisation. Enhancing the capability of incident and emergency management state-wide through the agency.
A strong people leader, this role focuses on building capability, maintaining a high‑performing and connected team, and supporting the wider business with practical, hands‑on incident management advice. Success requires someone who can engage confidently with senior leaders, regional operations and external emergency agencies, while remaining calm, credible and decisive in high‑pressure situations.

What you can expect with this role
- Leading the organisation’s operational security and incident management function, providing clear direction and coordination across the business
- Owning and maintaining incident management frameworks, guidelines, processes and procedures, ensuring they remain current and effective
- Acting as a key coordination point during major corporate incidents and emergencies, supporting the business through preparation, response and recovery
- Leading and developing a specialist team, building capability, engagement and strong performance in both day‑to‑day operations and incident situations
- Coordinating and delivering incident management training and emergency exercises across the organisation
- Working closely with internal leaders and external emergency agencies to support effective incident preparedness and response
Your skills and experience
For this role, we are looking for great talent with:
- Proven experience in operational security and/or incident or emergency management, ideally within a large, complex operational environment
- A strong, people‑focused leader who can build capability, engage teams and support staff to perform effectively, including in high‑pressure situations
- Sound understanding of incident management principles, including preparedness, response and recovery and a proven ability to apply them.
- Confident working with senior leaders and external emergency agencies, with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Calm, credible and decisive under pressure during dynamic events and when leading through incidents and emergencies
- Holds a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. security, emergency management, leadership or a related field) or equivalent practical experience; a degree is desirable but not mandatory
