About the role
As a Principal PMO, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and running a new Portfolio Management Office that supports our Information and Technology Group deliver it’s strategic priorities. Our new ways of working leverage scaled agile practices where possible, and traditional waterfall delivery where it makes sense, to drive delivery predictability, cost discipline and meaningful business value. You will be responsible for designing and implementing core PMO capabilities that are right‑sized, scalable, and grounded in practical governance.
As experienced Agile leaders, you will play a key role in embedding Scaled Agile principles and lean portfolio management practices across the organisation. You will help align portfolio planning and reporting with business strategy to maximise value realisation, enable adaptive delivery, and support informed decision-making in a dynamic environment.

What the role will involve
In this role, you will:
- Implement core capabilities need to establish a contemporary PMO including portfolio roadmaps, workforce planning, financial oversight, and value / benefits management.
- Establish governance and assurance frameworks that balance agility with appropriate controls, ensuring delivery predictability and value realisation.
- Manage and support agile ceremonies and governance forums including steering committees, program boards, PI / Quarterly planning, and delivery syncs.
- Develop and monitor KPIs and OKRs to track portfolio performance, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Lead the development of reporting tools, dashboards, and analysis to enhance portfolio visibility and strategic investment decisions.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure program alignment, transparency, and value delivery.
- Mentor and uplift agile delivery capability across platform teams through coaching and best practice sharing.
- Contribute to the continuous evolution of PMO frameworks, tools, and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Key skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Degree qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience supporting bi-modal delivery portfolio’s that deliver complex technology initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of PRINCE2 and Agile methodologies, with exposure to ITIL or similar service delivery frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in portfolio governance, performance reporting, and financial management.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong stakeholder engagement capability.
- A leadership style that inspires collaboration, capability uplift, and high performance.
