About the role
We have a permanent opportunity for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer joining our Design, Dams and Conveyance team in Engineering. Undertake the strategic provision of geotechnical engineering, providing expert advice, and cross-functional coordination to ensure the quality of major water infrastructure assets delivered are ‘fit for purpose’. You’ll also drive development of geotechnical policy and standards supporting long-term asset delivery across Water Corporation. The role will be based in our Leederville office reporting to our Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer.
About the role
- Oversee and monitor the geotechnical design and construction of water infrastructure required to support and enable the successful delivery of major key development projects
- Plan, manage and oversee the delivery of all geotechnical engineering designs and technical reports to address complex geotechnical engineering challenges, using both in-house and external resources
- Review and assess tenders for delivery of infrastructure projects and provide recommendations that support effective procurement decisions and deliver value for the Corporation
- Undertake the role of Geotechnical Engineering Advisor for major key development projects, providing strategic oversight and leadership across all design phases.
- Represent the Corporation in consultations and negotiations with Government agencies, local authorities, industry leaders, consultants, developers and community groups on major projects
- Conduct regular inspections of works under construction and ensure assets are being delivered in accordance with approved designs to the Corporation’s engineering and quality standards
- Provide subject matter expert advice in Safety in Design Reviews (SIDR)

Key skills and experience
You’ll have a degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, along with extensive geotechnical engineering experience in water infrastructure planning, design, project management and delivery of infrastructure assets. Your demonstrated leadership, and ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence both senior internal, external stakeholders, and government agencies will ensure success in this role.
