About the role
Our Assets Planning & Delivery Group have a permanent opportunity for a Principal Engineer - Electrical Design to work within our diverse and supportive engineering team. You will undertake quality planning, definition, design and commissioning coordination services, providing a centre of expertise technical support and advice in process planning, definition, design and construction. This role will be based in our Leederville office, reporting to the Team Leader - Electrical Design.
What the role will involve
- Plan and manage the development and delivery of complex designs and reports for the solution of engineering problems using in-house or external resources
- Examine tenders and make recommendations
- Prepare briefs for the engagement of consultants, evaluate consultant proposals and report appropriate conclusions and recommendations
- Manage the planning, definition and design of projects by consultants and review outputs and performance for conformity to requirements, appropriate design criteria, client requirements and to agreed time and cost
- Provide advice to and liaise with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies
- Represent the Water Corporation in consultations and negotiations with Government agencies, local authorities, consultants, developers and community groups

About you
You’ll hold a degree-level qualification in engineering, supported by substantial experience in engineering design and construction. With expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices, you bring a high level of technical capability to complex project environments. You have detailed understanding of statutory requirements, regulations and national standards governing the design, approval and development of electrical systems for water-related infrastructure assets.
Your strong analytical skills enable you to assess & evaluate engineering and economic effectiveness, providing clear, well‑reasoned recommendations, along with knowledge of water-related infrastructure assets and systems, you deliver practical, and innovative solutions will ensure success in this role.
