Shape Your World
At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper & world-shaper.
This is an opportunity for you to bring your wealth of experience to the team and help shape the future of sustainability with world-changing innovations and low carbon technologies. You have the power to shape things to make them better.
About the Role
As a Mine Rehabilitation Advisor, you will be at the heart of Alcoa’s commitment to industry-leading environmental stewardship. Your mission is to ensure that our mining footprint is temporary, and our ecological legacy is permanent. You will play a pivotal role in a sophisticated restoration program, applying scientific rigour and innovative practices to return the land to a self-sustaining ecosystem. This isn't just about compliance; it’s about upholding a global standard for how industry and nature coexist.
Reporting to the Rehabilitation Principal – Environmental Strategic Projects, you will benefit from a family-friendly Monday to Friday roster. Based on-site at our WA Mining Operations, you will join a high-performing team where technical expertise meets a shared passion for the environment. Your 8-hour day will offer a dynamic mix of field-based oversight and strategic office-based analysis, providing a complete view of the rehabilitation lifecycle.
In this role, you act as the vital link between environmental science and operational execution. You will:
Implement and lead rehabilitation research and handback projects, ensuring that every stage of the process is backed by sound data and a team of environmental experts.
Conduct detailed field inspections and audits to verify that restoration work meets our exacting standards, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Provide technical insights that shape our rehabilitation guidelines and procedures, ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of environmental practice.
Manage and analyse the data that proves our success, feeding critical information into GIS systems, KPI dashboards, and transparent reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a professional liaison with government bodies, including the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and Water Corporation, to demonstrate our progress and maintain our social license to operate.
What’s on offer
Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.
Family friendly rosters that allow you to be home after each shift.
Flexible hybrid working options available.
Parental leave support for all caregivers.
One additional paid Alcoa Flexi Day.
Generous leave entitlements including a leisure a day off every 4-week period.
What you can bring to the role
You are a technically minded professional who balances scientific curiosity with a practical, results-oriented approach. To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
A degree in Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Engineering, or a related field. Your academic background provides the theoretical framework necessary to navigate complex ecological challenges.
Proven experience within environmental management or mine planning. While bauxite mining experience is a significant advantage, what matters most is your understanding of how large-scale industrial operations and environmental conservation intersect.
A collaborative mindset - you are an energetic team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, you know how to build rapport with everyone from heavy equipment operators to government regulators.
The ability to translate complex environmental data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences, ensuring that rehabilitation remains a top priority across the site.
Operational Agility, and comfortable working in a dynamic mine-site environment, demonstrating the resilience and focus needed to drive long-term sustainability projects forward.
