Play a critical role in payroll integrity, compliance and remediation across a complex, regulated environment on an 18 month max term contract.
As Payroll Compliance Specialist, on an 18 month contract, you’ll play a key role in protecting the integrity, accuracy and compliance of HCF’s payroll. This role ensures payroll processes and systems meet Australian legislative requirements and align with internal policies, supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll outcomes across the business.
You’ll be responsible for validating wage and remediation outcomes, overseeing the quality and completeness of payroll and timesheet data, and supporting ongoing Workday payroll administration. Working closely with Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Performance and Reward and People and Culture teams, you’ll partner across the organisation to resolve complex employee entitlement matters.
The role also works with internal risk, finance and data teams, and liaises with external auditors, consultants and regulatory bodies including the ATO, State Revenue Offices and WorkCover authorities. This is an 18‑month max term contract offering meaningful exposure to complex payroll compliance and remediation work in a regulated environment.
About you
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and modern awards
- Proven ability to interpret and apply awards and enterprise agreements to ensure accurate pay rates, allowances and employee entitlements
- Sound understanding of PAYG withholding, superannuation guarantee obligations, payroll tax across multiple states, and tax considerations including FBT and GST
- Experience working with Single Touch Payroll and STP‑enabled payroll systems to support real‑time reporting to the ATO
- Solid knowledge of statutory leave entitlements including annual leave, personal leave, long service leave and parental leave
- Strong risk management mindset with experience designing, applying and monitoring internal payroll controls
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Confidence identifying payroll compliance risks and working collaboratively to resolve complex entitlement and remediation matters
- Comfortable partnering with a wide range of stakeholders and communicating clearly on detailed, technical payroll issues
