About the role
Reporting to our General Manager, Enterprise Strategy & Growth, as our Group Manager Strategy, you'll play a key role in shaping Ventia's future by translating enterprise strategy into practical initiatives that drive growth and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Working across our diverse sectors, you'll lead the annual strategy cycle, support enterprise-wide alignment, identify growth opportunities and provide market, competitor and industry insights to inform strategic decision-making. You'll partner with senior stakeholders to support business development strategy, evaluate growth opportunities and help ensure our strategic priorities are reflected in the markets we pursue and the opportunities we bring forward.
This highly visible role will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders across the business, helping bring our strategy to life through clear execution plans, effective governance and commercially focused outcomes.

What you'll be doing
- Lead and coordinate Ventia's annual enterprise strategy cycle, including preparation of Executive Leadership Team and Board materials.
- Translate enterprise strategy into practical, actionable initiatives with clear ownership, governance and measurable outcomes.
- Support ongoing enhancements to Ventia’s business development strategies.
- Partner with business leaders to maintain strategic alignment across sectors and functions, supporting investment and prioritisation decisions.
- Monitor, track and report on strategic initiatives, providing insights, recommendations and interventions where required.
- Facilitate strategy workshops and executive discussions that challenge thinking and drive alignment across the business.
- Provide market, customer and competitor insights to support strategic planning, business growth and commercial decision-making.
- Identify emerging market trends, growth opportunities and strategic partnerships that support Ventia's long-term objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Corporate Development, Finance and sector leaders to support enterprise growth initiatives and strategic priorities.
About you
- Degree qualified in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Economics or another relevant discipline.At least 5 years’ experience working within corporate strategy in either a leading consulting firm or a large, complex corporate environment.
- Extensive experience in infrastructure services, infrastructure, defence and/or Government sectors.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategy, with the ability to translate high-level strategic direction into practical business initiatives.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting growth strategy, market analysis, business planning or strategic decision-making.
- Excellent analytical, financial modelling and presentation skills, with the ability to develop executive-ready papers and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of strategy frameworks, market and competitor analysis, and enterprise planning.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Direct experience in enterprise business development or business development strategy will be highly valued.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing small, high-performing teams.
