Ventia is undertaking a significant remediation clean-up project located at a remote site in South Australia to support the return of unrestricted land access to the Maralinga Tjarutja people, the traditional owners of this Country.
We are now seeking experienced engineering, remediation, or site clean-up professionals to join this significant project.
About the Project
Based in Maralinga, western South Australia, this project involves the clean-up of legacy contamination associated with previous land uses. Works include removal of general demolition waste and debris (including asbestos) and small quantities of low level contaminated soil, along with construction of temporary and permanent site facilities.
You will be part of a dedicated project team operating from a Ventia-managed remote camp at Maralinga Village, complete with full catering, accommodation, and recreation services.
This role is FIFO from Adelaide, mobilising in March 2026, with on-site delivery continuing through to late 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating site activities such as earthworks, waste sorting, asbestos removal, and subcontracted works
- Managing subcontractors, reviewing progress, and ensuring completion within agreed timelines
- Administering construction, quality, and operational management plans
- Supporting cost control through understanding budgets, costs, and variances
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements (including ISO 9001)
- Preparing engineering and construction reports as required
- Coordinating information flow across engineering, construction, and operational work streams
- Providing practical technical advice to project staff
- Managing subcontract administration and delegating field management to Site Engineers and Supervisors/ Foremen
- This position also provides leadership to Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
About You
- A tertiary qualification in engineering (civil, environmental, or related discipline)
- 3–5 years’ project experience in construction or environmental remediation (2+ years in a similar role)
- Experience in demolition, waste sorting, or asbestos removal in soils (highly desirable)
- Strong proficiency in project software and Microsoft Office, with a solid understanding of budgeting and cost control
- Strong understanding of WHS and environmental legislation
- Prior experience working in remote operations and willingness to work FIFO
- Ability to lead, influence and engage teams to ensure compliance and safe project execution
